BEMO-COFRA: A framework for monitoring and control of multiple devices in a plant floor

This paper gives an overall presentation of the aims and visions of the BEMO-COFRA project. The aim of the project is to propose a framework that will integrate different devices in a plant floor, wirelessly, in a way to monitor and take decisions efficiently. Also, the wireless integration will bring many other advantages such as flexibility, scalability and reconfigurability. The BEMO-COFRA framework was conceived to integrate multiple devices and sensors such as PLC's, robots, sensor devices and wireless sensor networks and to provide tools to assess and analyse the data collected by and transmitted among these devices. This data would be used, for example, to make decisions about which sensors and devices need maintenance or which devices have priority over certain operations in the production line.
